"The easiest job in the world is to be that of a critic. Anyone can point out what doesn't work within a a given system, be it a corporation, an organization, or a problem within society at large. But if you are intelligent enough to recognize something that needs fixing, then you should be responsible for fixing it. This world owes you nothing. But we owe it to each other and to ourselves to make this world a better place. Too many people stand by the sidelines and say...somebody should fix this or that...but you be different. You be the one to fix it. Make the conscious choice to improve the world in which you live. This is not always the easiest path...but it is the most rewarding one."
~John Philp Thompson Sr.~

The goals of The John Philp Thompson Foundation are to:
Obtain public recognition of this horrible disease.
Create opportunities for an exchange of information.
Create a reason for hope for patients and their families worldwide.
"There has been no change in the management of primary malignant tumors of the brain (Glioblastoma Multiforme and anaplastic astrocytomas - astrocytomas Grades 3 and 4) for 20 years.
"Radiation therapy can double life expectancy, and chemotherapy may add a few more months to median survival. The modern use of Gamma Knife adjuvant radiosurgery has further pushed the survival curve with it's high response rate, but still there is no cure for this dreaded disease. Survival may be only 1 year from the time of diagnosis, with fewer than 5% living 5 years. Thus, a new approach had to be undertaken."
~Dr. Christopher Duma
Q: Why doesn't the John Philp Thompson Foundation support chemotherapy or radiation?
A: Because while these treatments help other cancers they have repeatedly been proven ineffective for Glioblastoma Multiforme, meanwhile resulting in drastically lowering the patient's quality of life.
Today, with immunotherapy, stem cell research, protein manipulation, and viral manipulation, etc., there are many more promising options!
